About Romb.us and Rombus

About Me!

Hi, my name is Rick. I live in Columbus, Ohio where I work as a Network Support Specialist for Time Warner Cable. I live with my Wife, Melissa who I love completely, and our 2 dogs and a cat. When I'm not working, i like to play video games and hang out with my friends. I also like to screw around with electronics, robots and computers but unfortunately my current apartment is too small for me to have a workbench, let alone a work room!

I'm also working on starting my own company, called RomLabs. My goal is to release apps for iOS devices and Mac App Store.

About Romb.us

Romb.us was originally called Rom's World since Rom is the short version of Rombus, my online handle. In its first. I first used it as a place to host pictures of computer mods i had done. It ended up evolving into more of a personal blog and idea/project worklogs / writeup area. I hope to continue with that with this new version, new name, and new design.

The change from Rom's World to Romb.us happened in late august 2008. The main changes were a new theme and color scheme, and an update to the most recent version of Drupal. I had received many complaints that the old sites colors were not very good looking to say the least. I also did not enjoy the title "Rom's World" as it tended to show up on too many searches for Video Game Rom's.

I had been planing on redesigning Rom's World since early 2007, but lack of time meant it kept getting pushed back. Finally a friend of mine named Jo let me know that the domain i had wanted originally (romb.us) had become available. This, combined with a new job with more free time gave me the chance i needed to finish what you see before you today, Romb.us.

For those who are curious, the site is hosted at Site5.com. I run the most recent update of Drupal 6 and the theme is a modified Zen theme. I don't offer my personal theme as a public download but if you are interested in using it, contact me and we can talk about it. The title graphic is based off a show i enjoy: House.
