a Rombus' Friday Rant/Rave post

RFR: Quickies!

Yet again, the Friday Rants and Raves have been few and far between, but today had a few news stories I just cant help talking a punch or two at. More »

RFRDW: The Apple iTunes Store

Up until now, my RFRs have been either Rants or Raves. Today will be the first “Double Whammy”. A Double Whammy is both a rant and a rave at the same time. Today’s target is the Apple iTunes Store. More »

Rant: AT&T Feature Woes

I know i haven't made any Friday rants this year yet. This is mainly due to the schedule change at work that happened when we went live. Since i no longer work Friday, i really don't have the initiative to pickup my laptop and bang out a rant. And when you have people like Scott Ramsoomair of VG Cats or Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw of Zero Punctuation who do it much better that i can, i just haven't felt like doing a RFR recently. But this week i cant pass up the chance to take a few jabs at the current iPhone AT&T debacle. And as a tease, AT&T wont be the only target. More »

Rave: Online Ordering

As a tribute to the holidays, I felt today would be a great day to do the first Rave of my Friday Rants/Raves section. So Happy Holidays, and listen in as I rave about something I truly enjoy: Online Ordering. More »

Rant: Game Reselling, it’s a bad thing?

It seems like used games are the most recent “hot button” topic for the gaming world. On one hand, you have the game developers complaining they don’t make any money from used games. On the other you have the gamers who are used to reselling used games. Who is right in this case? More »

Rant: Media Coverage of the Election

Having up to the second coverage of the election is a given at this point, but it’s getting crazy with the gimmicks everyone is using to get people to watch. It started with the real time reaction during the debates, and it has grown much, much past that. More »

Rant: Grammar Nazis

Today’s Rant was going to be about the Fable 2 and Lionhead Situation, but this morning, another thing irked me more. Grammar Nazi's! Now I’m not talking about going "Hey Rick, you screwed up X on your post" I’m talking about people who find joy in pointing out others flaws. As an example: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r21331161-Rant-Car-accident-gawkers~star...

Now, I admit, I probably fat-fingered two words and did not read the auto correction suggestion. I was going to let the first guy who pointed it out slide, like I do most grammar nazis, but it’s the second one that really got me. A whole HOUR after the first person pointed out the mistake, he felt it necessary to ALSO point out the mistake, and post a nice "Grammar Police" badge. Seriously, was fat fingering ONE Word enough to warrant two posts about it?

Yes, I make mistakes. Yes, people make mistakes all the time, but come on, it's the Internet! Why don’t you people set your sites on those who are massacring the language rather than people like me who just make occasional mistakes? Is your self esteem so low that you get joy from pointing out others flaws?

I know this was kind of a short rant, but I’m just not feeling up to really laying into this, too busy today :/ Just rest assured, Grammar Nazis, tomorrow is a new day, so when you wake up and look around and realize how bad your own life is, there is always someone on the Internet who is making a mistake.

Rant: G4 & Spaceballs: The Animated Series

Have you seen that Skittles commercial where everything the guy touches turns to skittles? Well, that exists in real life, Expect instead of that guy, it’s the G4 network. And instead of skittles, everything G4 touches turns to absolute shit. And there most recent show, Spaceballs: The Animated Series, is no exception. More »

Rant: Politics on the Internet Is Serious Business

Some weeks, doing my Friday rant/rave is a week long thought process about what I could write about that would be interesting and I feel like talking about. Other weeks a topic just falls into my lap at the last minute that’s just too good to pass up. Today is one of latter weeks.

For the most part, I’ve been trying to avoid political arguments on the web. I’ve been mostly successful, but when two of my friends started going at it on Twitter; I just can’t ignore it any more. More »

Rant: The T-Mobile G1

This phone was supposed to be the iPhone killer. The Android platform was hailed as the phone operating system of the New Age. Did we get it? In short, No. More »
